Lots of posts for January
Posted by Jason on 01/31/2006 09:02:07 pm

This month has seen a lot more posts. Since I've been doubling up classes, things have just been too busy to do much. Google Earth has been the highlight of the month. I could spend hours playing with it. I'll have to concentrate on classes now that we are in the thick of programming. I spent hours working on my school site and absolutely hate the results. Somewhere I need to find a class on creativity. One thing from my classes that I found interesting was a color blindness test. While I still scored in the normal vision range, some of the test was very difficult to read. I'll try and remember to post a link.......

Google Earth is so cool!
Posted by Charlotte on 01/27/2006 09:57:54 am

School has been moving right along. I am doing well in one class and I think I’m doing well in both. We shall see….. I’ve been re-visiting sites that I use to frequent awhile back and stumbled into some very cool google earth stuff. Here are a few of my favorites. If you click the thumbs I’ll include the .kmz file for google earth.

Busy weekend
Posted by Jason on 01/24/2006 12:18:29 am

Unfortunately I couldn't get out of coming into work this weekend. There was only 1 disk failure and a library that needed to be reset, so it wasn’t too awful bad. Probably was onsite for around 7 hours over the two days. Now, I just need to have someone to cover me next weekend because I am on-call this week. Lots of interesting stuff happened this weekend. Friends who went to Egypt visited and shared their experiences and photo's with us but also brought their brother over for a short visit. It's very strange to have guests in Saudi. Personally I'd rather take them to Dubai or Bahrain over Saudi but it does give him a chance to see what life in Saudi is really like. We watched their pic's on our DVD player and then went out for brunch. When we got back we subjected them to our Myanmar trip photos. Fortunately or unfortunately for them the laptop battery died halfway thru and I couldn't restart the slideshow where it left off so they didn't have to see all our photos....

Classes underway
Posted by Jason on 01/17/2006 11:46:53 pm

Both classes are off and running. Rebecca and I went out to dinner last night which I'm slowly recovering from today. Good thing I made posts before I left work yesterday. The dinner was very nice and they had wine..... Did I mention I'm suffering this morning. To make things even better the office feels like its 40°F. My hands are literally numb. Add this to a moderate hangover and pow.... Good thing its wednesday! Now to find a way out of working this weekend since I'm on-call next week.

Photo's are all up
Posted by Jason on 01/16/2006 12:59:39 am

I weeded out the bad ones which put the count under a thousand pictures. Ha ha... gotta love digital cameras. I'm really not very happy with ours and will probably try and talk Rebecca into getting a new one. Now to try and convince her to recycle this one as a gift. Anyone? Anyone? We spent over a thousand dollars on it and it's by far the worst camera I've ever played with. I start back into classes tomorrow. Doubled up again and will be for the next two before I get another vacation. I can't wait to be done with school although I'm thinking of jumping right back in for a masters in computer science. Had a nice chat with Gauge this morning and can't wait to see him in March. 10 weeks and counting..........

Adding Myanmar pictures
Posted by Jason on 01/14/2006 03:54:59 am
Started adding pictures of our trip. These pictures don't really do the country justice as far as how nice the people are or how beautiful the country really is. This has got to be the cleanest South Asian country we have been too yet. The only village that was really dirty had just celebrated a major festival and it is said will be cleaned up within days. My idea of paradise is very close to Myanmar!

Wow... internet access in Myanmar
Posted by Jason on 01/13/2006 10:11:06 pm
It's very hard to believe I have access here and it's expensive. They figured out how to block emails but I do have ways around that. Unfortunately I don't have my memory stick with me so I won't be able to upload any pictures for a few days. And if I can remember to bring a stick or two with me . The access is probably a bit slow for uploading pictures so we shall see. The trip has been excellent so far. We are now in Bagan which is chalk full of cool looking temples called Pagodas. The hotel is excellent and the food is even better. Rebecca and I are doing a balloon trip for breakfast that should carry us over the majority of the temples. Darn camera has been acting up and I'm not sure we are getting the best shots we could be getting. We first arrived in Yangon but it was on a later flight that got us in too late to see the city. The hotel was a five star and absolutely stunning in service and looks. Could be mostly because it was dark but looks very promising for our return home because we get a full day there. I'm looking forward to it. Anyway this is going to cost a small fortune and I'm just testing what I can get away with so we shall see.

In Bahrain airport
Posted by Jason on 01/04/2006 08:57:22 am
Gulf Air really needs some work. We still haven't been reimbursed for our trip last year when we got bumped from business to economy. This year we got smart and checked in for the flight 24 hours in advance which means a fairly quick trip over the causeway from Saudi to Bahrain and a nice meal albiet on a work night. Anyway we also made sure we got to the airport in plenty of time because we knew the flight was overbooked to boot. Gulf has one flight now that they keep saying any minute that has been delayed for 8 hours. Rumor has it they are fighting at the gates. Business lounge is getting interesting with people obviously upset at not getting straight answers as to what is happening to the flight. At this point they are still saying any minute and check back in a few minutes and we might know more. I'd be pretty pissed if I was on that flight. Hopefully our plane won't have the same issues. Knock on wood...... If you see me back on tonight you'll know something happened to our flight as well. God I can't wait to get out of here...............

So much for Updates :)
Posted by Jason on 01/03/2006 12:37:16 am
It's amazing how lazy I have gotten especially when it comes to updating the website. Sorry!!!! Rebecca and I are getting all set for our trip to Myanmar. We leave in just a couple days. Wed. Jan 4th 2006. I don't have the itinerary handy but will send out an email to Dad on how to contact us if you need to. Internet is very restricted in Myanmar and I had to take some time off school so I didn't have to worry about an incomplete because of missing too many days of attendance. I've already created an album in anticipation of photos for the trip. This makes it easier to upload too if I can find internet access on the trip..... doubtful but we shall see.
